What is the difference between OUN students and students at traditional universities?
OUN programs are oriented toward the mid-career adult and working professional. Conversely, classroom universities are attracting the 18 to 21-year olds whose life goals and ambitions have yet to be established. This is true especially at the undergraduate level. OUN does no compete with such traditional schools. OUN students know who they are, know exactly what they want to do and are interested in a challenging and rewarding educational experience. For this reason, they are often more motivated than students at traditional universities. In addition, OUN students gain significant advantages from their professional experience. Not only are they able to draw from the knowledge they have developed throughout their career thus far, but they may apply earned credit for what they have already learned toward their program.

Will my degree mention that I gained it through distance learning or the program?
No mention of the words "equivalency," "non-traditional," "distance learning," "online" or any similar expression will appear on your degree, your academic record or any other documents you receive from OUN are the same standard used by all US colleges and universities.

How long will my program take to complete?
Program duration varies greatly due to the different goals and entry levels of our students. In general each course will take 4-6 weeks to complete. Time and schedule allowing students may take more than one course at a time. OUN students are required to have prior work experience in their field or a related field, most also have college credits or training above their last level of study. The number of courses required varies from student to student, the following are average course requirements: At the bachelors level OUN students take 8-10 course and a Final Project, for the Masters program 8 courses plus Thesis, and for the Doctoral program 5 courses plus Dissertation. Most students will complete their program in less than 18 months.

Are the credits and the degree accepted at other colleges?
Just like OUN, each college can determine the criteria it follows in accepting transfer credits from other institutions. If transferring credits to another institution is the main focus of your studies, be sure to confirm with them prior to beginning your studies at OUN. Colleges evaluate transfer credits on a case-by-case basis. Some colleges and universities are very open to accepting credits from other institutions, some are very restrictive.
